August Missions Focus: LIFE Ministries

During the month of August, we are partnering with LIFE Ministries.  A local faith-based non profit that provides assistance to families and individuals living in western and southern Washington county.

local missions partners

Below is a list of our missions partners in Prairie Grove and NWA:

  • LIFE MINISTRIES

Life Ministries reaches out to individuals and families in our area, providing food, clothing, and financial assistance to those in need.

  • BRIGHT FUTURES

Bright Futures brings together local businesses, organizations, churches, and parent groups and partners them with schools to meet the needs of students.

  • TOMMY HOUSE

Tommy House, located in West Fork, provides short-term emergency housing and a loving, Christian environment for children who have been removed from their homes by the state.  It's a ministry of Arkansas Baptist Children's Homes.

  • BACKPACK PROGRAM

The Backpack Program, affiliated with the Prairie Grove School District, helps provide food to children in need.

Loving Choices is a faith-based, pregnancy resource center that offers a variety of services at no cost to teenage girls and adult women who find themselves in unplanned pregnancies.

guatemala

David and Lindsey Owens, and their son, Cooper, live and serve in Guatemala through Chosen People International.  David helps train and send pastors to plant churches in unreached areas of the country.  You can read more about their ministry at www.owensinguatemala.com.

In recent years, we have sent several teams to Guatemala for short-term mission trips to serve at Casa Para Ninos Aleluya, an orphanage in Guatemala City.  We are hoping to send a team to work with David and Lindsey in the summer of 2017.  More details to come soon...

india

Since 2004, we have been involved with mission work in South India. Teams from two to twelve persons typically go for about two weeks once or twice per year.  The India mission is focused on three purposes: 1) to share the Gospel with those who have never heard it, 2) to encourage and support the existing Indian Christians, and 3) to grow disciples and plant churches in rural Indian village areas. Associated activities have included hosting medical camps, assisting orphanages, supplying Bibles, and financially supporting pastors and churches.

Listen to the report from the team that went to India in January 2017.

sbc cooperative efforts

We also participate in missions through the SBC Cooperative Program and the Arkansas State Baptist Convention. Throughout the year, there are opportunities to give toward local, regional, and world missions through the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering, the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering, and the Dixie Jackson Offering.  To learn more about SBC missions, visit www.sbc.net.
